PalmettoPride, in partnership with the South Carolina Litter Control Association, promotes “Zero Tolerance for Litter” weekend every May. The event is designed to encourage all law enforcement agencies to target littering, uncovered loads and illegal dumping. The campaign also educates the public that littering is a crime with costly penalties. During the 2004 event, officials gave out litter violations totaling over $300,000 in fines.

 

The “Zero Tolerance” on Litter program is exactly what it says. South Carolina has no tolerance for individuals who trash our state. One of North Myrtle Beach’s Officers on an early morning wakeup call. Each year “Spring Breakers” are educated on the laws governing litter in South Carolina. Through this enforcement the city has seen a decrease in litter at rental properties during this time of the year.
